    Description

Planning Usage: B1 Business / Office

The Loom is a stunning Grade II Listed former warehouse designed by Holland & Hannen, which was built for Browne & Eagle in 1892. In the 1950s, The Loom was used for storing paper and later as a wine distributor's factory. In the 1980s, the building was converted to provide warehouse space, workshops, studios and office accommodation for Whitechapel's businesses, artists and crafts, known as New Loom House.

In 2013, Helical bought New Loom House and completely transformed the building.

The building now provides 110,000 sq ft of office and storage space in total, with suites available between 1,000 sq ft and 8,500 sq ft over lower ground, ground and five upper floors.

Internally, our client has refurbished the available units to a high specification offering new metal tile raised floor, new modern lighting, sandblasted exposed brickwork and new air-conditioning.

Our client, Helical, has instructed Duggan Morris architects to reposition the building in the market to cater for occupiers within the creative sector.

Look Mum No Hands, in the summer of 2016, have occupied the ground floor rear reception area. Works of art are displayed in "The Walk" from The Cass School of Art, Architecture & Design in Aldgate. The first exhibition focuses on textile design and fibre-based artwork, recalling the building's former life as a wool warehouse.

Future themes will encompass the range of disciplines that Cass offers, from furniture to film, fine art to precious objects, instrument making to silversmithing.
