  2. Fashionable Fitzrovia sees Leeu make London Hotel Debut

    14 April 2017
The vibrancy of fashionable Fitzrovia continues to draw in occupiers not only with its rich and diverse environment but also with its unparalleled access across central London. Following in the footsteps of the likes of Estee Lauder and Facebook is International hotel and restaurant operator, Leeu Collection, who has just acquired its first London hotel property at 55 Newman Street, W1. Situated in the heart of the West End, the former office building has detailed planning consent to create a 80-bedroom luxury hotel.
Colliers were approached off-market by Leeu before we were in a position to formally launch the property for sale.  This is indicative of the current strength of the West End hotel market where the opportunities for international hotel companies to plant their flags are extremely limited. This is the perfect building for a luxury hotel development with strong food and beverage potential, and will capture demand from both the corporate and leisure markets, all of which Leeu were very quick to recognise.

This is Leeu’s second foray into the UK hotel market following their purchase of the four AA Red Star Linthwaite House that overlooks Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Their other properties are located in South Africa’s winelands and Florence, Italy.  For Leeu, this deal brings to an end a two-year search to find their perfect London hotel opportunity.
